VeilNet Windows Client – Common Prompts and Notices
Thank you for using VeilNet Rift on Windows. Due to the nature of how VeilNet operates at the network level, you may encounter certain system prompts or warnings. These are expected and safe if you downloaded VeilNet from our official website.
1. “Unknown Publisher” Warning on Installation #
When installing VeilNet Rift on Windows, you may see a warning about an Unknown Publisher.
This happens because our installer is not yet digitally signed. This does not affect the functionality or safety of the application.
✅ Important: Only download VeilNet from our official website:
This ensures the installer is authentic and safe.
2. “Veilnet-daemon-windows Requires Permission” Prompt #
When you click Connect, Windows may prompt you asking if veilnet-daemon-windows.exe
is allowed to make changes to your device.
This is normal behavior. The VeilNet daemon needs elevated permissions to:
Create a TUN virtual network interface, which is essential for routing your encrypted traffic.
Add or modify routing rules to establish the secure overlay network.
🔒 Note: VeilNet does not modify any other parts of your system outside of its network configuration during operation.
3. Daemon Stopped Unexpectedly – Restart Required #
If the veilnet-daemon-windows
process is stopped forcibly (either manually from Task Manager or by unexpected crashes), the app cannot recover automatically.
⚠️ Solution:
You must fully close and restart the VeilNet Rift application to restore functionality.
This is a current limitation we are actively working to improve in future updates.
